Twin Cities Residential Construction Revs Up in July 2014

Residential permitting heated up in July, with permits running higher than during any month since October 2013. Planned units are up almost 30 percent in July 2014 over July 2013, and almost 14 percent over year-to-date.

Multi-Family Permits Boosts Twin Cities Residential Construction for June 2014

Residential construction permitting activity jumped again in June, with several large multi-family buildings leading the way. Permits for the month were down by over 16 percent from June 2013, but units were up by 37 percent.

Twin Cities Residential Construction Slower in May, 2014

Residential construction permitting activity continued to show signs of slowing for the month of May, primarily in multi-family construction. Permits for the month were down about seven percent over May 2013 while units were down by 33 percent.

April 2014 Twin Cities Residential Construction Activity Continues Relatively Flat

Permitting activity for new residential construction showed a slight drop for the month of April 2014, keeping overall year-to-date activity relatively flat. The month saw single-family permits down about three percent, permits down by six percent and units down by nine percent.

Lennar Once Again was Twin Cities’ top-volume Residential builder in 2013

Roseville, MN (March 26, 2014) – Results from a recent survey by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) show that Lennar - Minneapolis/St. Paul was the region’s top ranked builder once again in 2013. Lennar has held the top spot since 2006.

Twin Cities Residential Construction Remains Steady

In contrast to the weather this March, local builders kept the residential housing market on a stable track. The month remained virtually unchanged in single-family permitting, but did see an eight percent drop in total units from March 2012, all from the more volatile multi-family market.
